Sikho Mata is being treated at Tygerberg clubfoot clinic. He lives in Delft South and travels an hour to the clinic for treatment.
His mother only found out about his clubfoot diagnosis when he was born.
She was very worried and asked herself tough questions, like, “What if my child asks why he is different?”
She was told at the Khayelitsha clinic that she must massage her son’s feet to fix the problem, but there was no improvement. They then transferred to the Tygerberg Hospital clubfoot clinic where they were given outstanding support, both emotional and physical, from Steps and the clinic team.
Her advice to other parents is: All will be okay, it’s difficult journey, but have faith in the clinic. Stick to the process and don’t cheat! Be strong for your baby. You will see an improvement!
